Integrated environmental education through music

ART’s learning resources use music, art and humour to entertain, engage and educate children about the environment and sustainability.  Great music grabs their attention; powerful lyrics deliver the educational message; accessible science writing makes complex ecological concepts accessable, and beautiful artwork completes the package.  It is education with impact, and it’s drawing rave reviews from educators across Canada. This is a song and a mini-handbook, called Eternity; it was specially prepared for, and distributed with, Maclean’s Magazine In Class Program 2006.  It’s an excerpt from ART’s Cycle of Life/Recycle Educators’ Handbook, and gives a good example of what to expect in the full resource.

Voices of Nature School Music Programs and Concerts
Voices of Nature programs involve every child in the school in learning a program of songs that are used in the classroom for cross-curricular learning. A celebration concert sees every student on stage for 30 minutes or more, singing their hearts out for families and friends. These concerts often take place with support of pro musicians of the Dream Band, in theatres, and are the highlight of the school year. Schools may sell tickets and CDs to recover costs.
